Why return windows resist generic reminders.
One order can contain items with different sellers, delivery dates, categories, and exclusions. A marketplace-wide help article may not control the transaction, and a current policy may differ from the terms that applied when the order was placed.
Numero treats a return deadline as source-backed purchase context, not a generic timer attached to every receipt.
Uncertain or absent policy evidence stays uncertain.
When the source does not establish the return period, controlling start event, or operational condition, Numero does not silently fill the gap with a category default.
That may produce fewer reminders, but each reminder can explain the deadline, confidence, and evidence behind it. Reliability matters more than apparent coverage.
- Do not assume every item follows the merchant's headline policy.
- Keep request-by, ship-by, and received-by conditions distinct.
- Preserve final-sale and item-condition exclusions when they are explicit.
- Track the later refund as a separate lifecycle state.
