Axis Bank
Email alertsAxis alerts: some are automatic, some have a ₹5,000 floor.
Axis sends card, mobile and internet banking alerts automatically. A separate tier only fires above ₹5,000 — and that gap is where people get caught.
The feature is called
SMS Banking alerts / e-advice
You can switch per-transaction email alerts on yourself, from online banking or the app.
By Rohtash Singh and Taniya Das, co-founders of Numero
Axis Bank automatically sends alerts to your registered mobile number for transactions made through your card, mobile banking, or internet banking. That sounds like complete coverage, and for those channels it largely is.
The gap is elsewhere. A separate tier of value-added SMS alerts only fires for transactions above ₹5,000 initiated through a branch, by cheque, and similar routes. If your mental model is “Axis alerts me about everything”, that tier is the exception.
The practical work at Axis is therefore less about switching alerts on and more about confirming the registered email and mobile are current, because that pair is what alerts and OTPs are both sent to.
What to look for
What Axis Bank actually documents.
Alerts and OTPs both go to the email address and mobile number recorded on your account. A stale address breaks both at once, so check that first.
Card, mobile banking and internet banking transactions already alert automatically to the registered mobile — you do not need to enable those.
Value-added SMS alerts apply to transactions above ₹5,000 initiated through branch, cheque and similar channels. Test below that figure, not above it.
To unsubscribe you must visit a branch in person and submit a Customer Request Form. There is no self-serve opt-out.
Even after unsubscribing, mandatory alerts continue. Those cannot be switched off.

Worth knowing
The things that catch Axis Bank customers out.
Value-added Axis SMS alerts apply to transactions above ₹5,000 through branch, cheque and similar channels. Everything below can pass silently on that tier.
Alerts and OTPs both go to the email and mobile recorded on your account, so a stale address breaks both.
Opting out requires an in-person branch visit and a Customer Request Form — it is not a self-serve toggle.
Mandatory alerts continue even after unsubscribing, and cannot be switched off.
Menus move. If this does not match what you see:
Axis Bank’s own page on thisThen Numero turns those alerts into a record.
Once Axis Bank is emailing you reliably, Numero reads what you authorize in Gmail or Outlook and organizes it — merchants normalized, subscriptions detected, refunds tracked to completion. It never asks for your Axis Bank login, card number, or OTP, and there is nowhere in the product to enter them.

Axis Bank alerts, answered
Why am I not getting Axis alerts for small transactions?
Most likely the ₹5,000 threshold on value-added alerts, which apply to transactions above that figure initiated through a branch, cheque and similar channels. Card, mobile banking and internet banking transactions alert automatically regardless, so test with the channel you actually care about.
How do I stop Axis alerts?
You cannot do it online. Axis requires an in-person visit to a branch with a Customer Request Form to unsubscribe. Even then, mandatory alerts continue — those are not optional.
I am getting Axis alerts for an account I do not hold. What now?
That usually means someone mistyped their number or email during an application and your address ended up on their record. Axis runs a dedicated support form for exactly this case — raise it there, because it also means your address is sitting on a stranger's account.
