ICICI Bank
Email via requestICICI alerts: know the charge and the threshold before you register.
ICICI charges savings customers per SMS alert, and several of its alerts only fire above ₹5,000. Both are worth knowing before you decide which channel to rely on.
The feature is called
Alerts / Mobile Alerts facility
Email alerts exist, but registration usually runs through phone banking, customer care, or a branch form rather than a self-serve toggle.
By Rohtash Singh and Taniya Das, co-founders of Numero
ICICI Bank runs alerts as a registration you submit rather than a switch you flip, and it publishes two specifics that change how you should think about them. Since 1 October 2023, savings account customers using the alerts facility through SMS are charged 15 paise per SMS. And several of ICICI's alert types are threshold-based — debits over ₹5,000, rather than every debit.
Email is where ICICI is less clear-cut than its private-sector peers. ICICI's alerts page documents email delivery specifically for NRI customers, who can receive alerts via email by providing an email address during registration. For resident customers, the published alerting is SMS-led. We have not found ICICI documentation promising resident customers per-transaction email, so this page does not claim it.
What ICICI does offer everyone is useful anyway: balance-above and balance-below threshold alerts, which act as a backstop when a per-transaction alert is missed or filtered.
What to look for
What ICICI Bank actually documents.
Alerts are registered through a service request, not a settings toggle. ICICI states that such a request is closed within 3 working days — so nothing arriving on day one is expected.
Alert types include salary credits, debits over ₹5,000, ATM withdrawals, cheque returns, and balance thresholds. Note the ₹5,000 figure — smaller debits are not covered by that alert type.

Add the balance-above and balance-below alerts. They catch movement even when a transaction alert does not fire.

Registration is a service request. ICICI states it will be closed in 3 working days, so alerts do not start instantly.
ICICI documents email alert delivery specifically for NRI customers. Do not assume a resident savings account gets per-transaction email.
ICICI states it is not liable for claims if the details you provide are incorrect or incomplete — check the address carefully.

Once ICICI Bank is emailing you reliably, Numero reads what you authorize in Gmail or Outlook and organizes it — merchants normalized, subscriptions detected, refunds tracked to completion. It never asks for your ICICI Bank login, card number, or OTP, and there is nowhere in the product to enter them.

ICICI Bank alerts, answered
Do ICICI Bank alerts cost anything?
SMS alerts do. With effect from 1 October 2023, all savings account customers availing the alerts facility through SMS are charged 15 paise per SMS. That is a per-message charge, so a busy month is not free.
Why am I not getting ICICI alerts for small transactions?
Because several ICICI alert types are threshold-based. The debit alert ICICI documents is for debits over ₹5,000, not every debit. Smaller transactions are not covered by that alert type — the balance-below alert is a better backstop for them.
Can I get ICICI alerts by email?
ICICI documents email alert delivery for NRI customers, who can provide an email address during registration. For resident accounts, the published alerting is SMS-led, and we have not found ICICI documentation promising per-transaction email — so this page does not claim it. Ask ICICI directly for your specific account type.
How long does ICICI alert registration take?
ICICI states the request will be closed in 3 working days. Silence on the first day is expected rather than a failure.
